Latest Update on The Official Animal Rights March 2020
As we’ve been working hard on our 2020 campaigns and projects behind the scenes, at Surge have also had to make some tough decisions regarding TOARM.
Due to COVID-19, The Official Animal Rights March will not be taking place on the streets in 2020. The event is expected to attract over 50,000 people globally, with huge mass crowds of thousands of passionate vegans, raising their voices for the animals. Because of the nature of the event, it is absolutely paramount that we consider the safety of everyone this year during a global pandemic.
Every event that takes place requires a huge amount of organisational work from a team of amazing activists across the globe, and many months of preparation are needed in advance. As we are unsure of when it will be safe to host this amount of people on the streets, we sadly cannot begin to organise any marches until we have a clearer idea of when these type of events will be possible.
This is heartbreaking for us at Surge, as the 2020 march was going to be the biggest and strongest yet. But the safety of all of you who attend the march, and of all of our organisers who work tirelessly to make these events a success, is absolutely essential.
We are currently exploring options for taking TOARM online, and we’ll be making announcements as soon as we have more information. Now is such an important time to keep morale up in the community, and we hope to be able to create a unifying and positive event in the online space.
We hope that you understand the situation we find ourselves in.
Thank you for your support at this time.
